Hello!
Apologize I am a bit late at introducing myself, somehow the new topic button doesn't work from my work computer! Sad ...does it mean I should actually nbe working? Lol!
Anyways...I'm a 20 something single woman living on the long transition into homesteading, started that about one year and a few months ago and I'm going slow, even more because I'm alone and that doesn't make things more easy, but adding bit by bit...and it's working out. Wish one day I'll be doing full homesteading...awww....here come the dreams! Very Happy
Nice to meet you all! Wink

Hello uvia

Welcome to the site from a newbie also, I love that as a 20 something you are looking to live self-sufficiently I wish there were more 20 somethings like yourself out there. I have to admit that at that age it would have been the last thing I would have thought of, but there again I was living very much shall we say the "norm" working in a mundane job and spending all money on clothes and booze. What can I say that as a 40 something, looking back I wish things had been different. I too although living an urban life, are trying to change to a more self-sufficient lifestyle.

Well done, I would love to hear more of how you are going about it.

Hello Uvia Very Happy

Lovely to meet you, I so wish I'd thought of attempting homesteading in my 20s instead of my *mumble mumbles*... Embarassed mid squillions.... Rolling Eyes Wink

Dive right on in and enjoy.... Very Happy

Tell me about it, wish there were more 20 somethings interested in homesteading! My dates look me weird when I comment 'why don't you make it yourself' for just about everything they buy at the grocery store, lol!
Probabily as the necessity comes we start looking into it.
My idea when I was 16 was to escape from home and restore an abandoned farm, well, that didn't get done but it was always in my mind even though I lived the mundane life as well for a while. But it came all back to me when a car accident left me healthy but in debt, so then I started switching to homesteading for real, but I think if it wasn't for the broken car I wouldn't have switched at this time.
I still have a mundane job, I'm a secretary, but I am spending nothing, buying at farmers' what I don't produce myself and I'm lucky to live in the country and have some tiny land.
For now I work at improving my skills more than anything else, I'm experimenting a lot with cheese and bread making! Very Happy

I told my dad when I was a teenager (pre 18) that I would build a house and plant a wood. His answer was totally unbelieving and unsupportive. But I have done both despite everyone else!! So keep going. (It is best not to wait for a full stop of a event like a car crash to change direction - but we all have I'm sure)

Cheese making sounds interesting....
