Wilhelm Von Rhomboid wrote:I am intrigued as to how cherry tomatoes are leftovers.
I had lots, I used most of them, I had a few left over.
Likewise the mushrooms, the single slice of ham, the bacon bits.

Ah, okay. Like I bought two pigs, ate a lot of the meat, and now the two sides of bacon, 10 kg of sausage and three roasting joints I have left are 'leftovers'.
I guess I was being too literal in my understanding of the term as meaning the remains that are left of a meal.

As I said in my first post in this thread, I usually try to not have 'leftovers' of that kind.
On the other hand, there are usually surplus odds and sods lurking around that can be cobbled together into something.

You would think that after goodness knows how many years of cooking for a family, I would get the hang of cooking the right amount of vegetables.
I have made a resolution. If there are some veg left over from a previous meal that I am reheating, do not add a portion of something fresh - what do I end up with? Another portion of veg to reheat the next day.
and I am reintroducing the principle of "eat it up Friday" which Mr JG and I did when we first got married. We would see what was left in the fridge and finish it off.

Mix any leftovers with pasta & sauce, sprinkle with cheese. Brown in the oven.
