default Travelling Scarf

Post by boobiejuicemama on 19th January 2011, 1:40 am

I know that as we come from all different parts of this lovely earth, and we won’t need our scarves at the same time, however I thought that I would see if anyone was interested in started a travelling scarf group? The idea is that all us knitters/crocheters sign up to knit a piece of scarf each, then we send it on to the next person and they knit/crochet a little piece, and this goes on until everyone has a unique hand knitted scarf each. What do you think? who would like to do this?

If you would just add your name here, and whether you would like knitted or crocheted, and colour preferences and I will get started organising things Smile

Here is an example of what it may look like -

Or this -

I am excited to do this!

That sounds cool! Sign me up too! I'm a knitter, and as for the colour, I like lots of different colours. Very Happy

Okay lets get started! Everyone who would like to join in please PM me your address and real name. I will start the first scarf, then send it to the first person.

When they recieve it and are/or are ready to post they can PM me for the next address. I really want to make sure everyone on the list gets a scarf (including me Very Happy ) so I will start the second one then send it to a DIFFERENT person, (trying to keep track with charts and notes hehe) and then we go on.

I realise this way means I am starting each scarf, if anyone has any suggestions to improve my idea please put your hands up!! I am really just winging it Very Happy

I am very confused

Are we knitting ( or otherwise) a square to make up a scarf or are we making a whole scarf to send to someone else, or what?

Sorry I do not understand what I am meant to do....

hehe your confusion is testament to my disorganisation! The first lovely....we will nominate an amount of rows as a guide, knit/crochet that many then send it to the next person. Hows does that sound? I will keep track here then when we are finished everyone will have a multi-coloured and multi-knitted scarf Very Happy

Small question - when the first person has finished their rows and posts it to the next what have the done with the point they've got to? i.e. I'm assuming you don't leave it attached to the needles and put them in the post, so do you cast it off, just put a yarn through the live stitches, a stitch holder???

No idea how this is going to turn out, but looking forward to it!

Will look forward to seeing the photos though
