Cleaning Tips

Post by polgara on 2nd May 2011, 11:38 am

After washing the bread bin, rinse & wipe the inside with a vinegar moist cloth, helps to prevent mould.

When you go away for a few days, leave a cut lemon in the kitchen. Keeps everything smelling fresh.

You can also leave a bunch of mint in a glass of water to do the same thing. (I hate coming back to a musty house!)

A dish of vinegar also absorbs odors. Leaves its own, slightly, but I don't mind it.

Crushed eggshells & water make a good scourer for vases.

The inside of your mug is brown with tea stains? a pinch or two of bicabonate of soda put in the mug and a little vinegar poured over it will sort it out. leave until it has stopped bubbling madly and then scrub a little.

Bicarb is also good for removing the smell and stains from vomit, urine or feaces. Strinkle on, leave to absorb then brush up. Can also be left on damp patches until dried, then vacc'd off.
