Sorry, no pickies Sad Maybe next time.



But it went very well. Goats are MUCH easier than I was expecting, easier even than a rabbit Shocked



I did miss out on the blood though, my angle of shooting - the back of the head aiming down to the nose - must have hit not only the brain but a major blood vessel as it FLOODED out.



Does anyone have any idea on how to get a good head shot and yet still catch the blood?

A .22 rifle Billy.



I was told to use that angle for the bullet instead of at teh point of an X - drawn between eyes and ears - because goats are armor plated for head butting and I must say, it sure went down well without all the thrashing about I was expecting.

I know when I was a slaughterman we would dispatch a pig with a bolt gun and would have to get the pig in a small pen or tie it by a pole and then do as billy has just said place the gun dead centre on the forehead and then bang, the pig was down ,
I would then get my knife and bleed it by putting the knife into just below 3 inch from the brestbone pushing the blade towards the back of the neck.

You know when you have got the main vain as the blod would poor out all over the place,

This was all done in a big Slaughterhouse and they didn't save the blood for black pudding.

I've seen a lambs being done as well and they get the bolt then they get pulled up so that you can put your knife blade in at one side and out the other, pull forward with the knife and you cut the main vains and so can catch your blood.
