default More peaceful at last

Our middle aged queen is recovering from having her house invaded by a nasty, stinky tom.

Our granddaughter told us that the parents of her significant other were going to get rid of a young tom cat. Maybe they thought it a terribly cute kitten when they borught it home from somebody's barn. But when he grew up, got tired of changing his smelly litter so the man of the house took to throwing him out to which he retaliated by leaving a deposit on that offending human's side of the bed. Kitty had to go.

So he came to us on a trial basis and to get vet care (he never had had any). If Queen Bridget wouldn't accept him, our granddaughter would take him, but she already has several cats and we wanted to get the vet expenses out of the way so she wouldn't be stuck with those. Less smelly after his operation but Bridget was having a hissy fit every time she saw him. That is gradually dying down, becoming less intense. Now he can be seen, come into our (her) room, anything but get too close with that distance decreasing till now at three weeks it is less than two feet.

For example, today while playing go against the computer (a 1 dan program so I need three stones) I was concentrating on that and not paying attention to cats. Game over and few life and death problems solved I shut the computer down only to notice that both cats were on the bed and barely to feet apart.

Sounds like Bridget is coming to terms with the new kid on the block! He will certainly be less offensive now he has "seen the vet"!! and I hope that he has already forgotten that spraying is what boy cats "do".

We had a new stray cat arrive just before Christmas and then, barger me, another blardy one has turned up this past week (and is being chased off!)

He was apparently young enough that the spraying stopped immediately.

I should perhaps have pointed out that while Boaz isn't an unusually small tom Bridget is a huge puss. Doesn't have the long hair of a Maine Coon but does have all of the other characteristics including size. She outweighs him by a good 50% so while all she had been doing is "singing" treats quite capable of ripping him apart.
