default Beaver fur weaving

Oh I do wish that I hadn't taken out this scarf to make a hat instead! I never finished the hat!

It all started out like this! With a couple of the cutest beaver skins.

I have another modern machine for thinning these skins.. one needs one for thinning the beaver! Very tough tightly bound fibers in these beaver pelt skins. They make good string! I think I got the notion from perusing the Canadian Fur Council sight.. Oh the wonderful items that can be knit or woven with plucked short tanned beaver fur. It is definitely a bit of a task for the DIY'er! But I had a mission and well now I have part of a scarf and a very small hat to show for all that hard work!

It's great to have fur inside and out!

I think I crocheted the scarf.. why it unraveled so EASILY! Had I chose to weave it babiche style.. it would still be a scarf!
I used a needle bone from a white tail deers leg hand fashioned into a large yarn needle. Worked great.
