default Custom Chalkboard coloured craft table

Post by Adrian on 11th July 2012, 10:32 pm

Custom Colors How-To
Materials

Flat finish latex paint - I used CIL Ultra Matt and had it coloured to Fern Green
Unsanded Tile grout
A tub to mix it in

Method

mix 1 cup at a time.

1. Pour 1 cup of paint into a container. Add 2 tablespoons of unsanded tile grout. Mix with a paint stirrer, carefully breaking up clumps.

2. Apply paint with a roller or a sponge paintbrush to a primed or painted surface. Work in small sections, going over the same spot several times to ensure full, even coverage. Let dry.

3. Smooth area with 150-grit sandpaper, and wipe off dust.

4. To condition: Rub the side of a piece of chalk over entire surface. Wipe away residue with a barely damp sponge.

The Craft Table..

I sanded it down - this was an old kitchen table from Kijiji, got it for $10 and shortened the legs.

First coat - snot green while still wet

When its dry tomorrow, I shall sand it down and prime it and its ready for use as a chalkboard craft table...

Your boys are going to love that. How old are they BTW?
