Building free for all

Our government seem to me to have taken leave of their senses. Or be in the pay of the building trade Question Gardens offer an important contribution to the urban environment, providing an a place for birds and other wildlife, safe space for children to play, and somewhere for rainwater to go. Our government would appear to think it is a good idea to sacrifice all of this to fill the pockets of the building trade.

The problems of housing will not be solved by oversize and low grade conservatories. If they could get builders to build the houses for which they already have permission, but are sitting on until the market will bring them more money, that might be more useful.

If you think as I do, please consider signing up to the 38 degrees petition on this one:

Ditto

The richer we have become materially, the poorer we have become morally and spiritually. We have learned to fly in the air like birds and swim in the sea like fish, but we have not learned the simple art of living together as brothers and sisters.

Thanks folks. I have to confess a personal interest here; we bought a house on the edge of a small town. Our garden backed on to a paddock with a pair of shetland ponies in it. I took an allotment at a site which had open space on three sides. Now there are houses crammed into the paddock, and the allotment is completely surrounded by building sites. My living environment has been completely changed from the place I chose to live, but according to our current planning system, I have no cause to be bothered because I am "not materially affected". Whether I am emotionally or spiritually affected is not important. Heaven knows what would be permitted under the proposed guidelines.
