default Hello from Suffolk

Post by Karen on 20th January 2010, 8:24 pm

Hello everyone (and a big wave to Mrs Green and Compostwoman, who enticed me over here) Smile

I'm from Bury St Edmunds, where I live with my husband and our two children - aged 5 & 8 - plus two cats and three chickens. We've only had the hens for nine months but we've come to realise that it is they who rule the roost.

When we bought our very first house, I began home-composting simply because that's what my grandmother used to do when I was little and it made sense and I was far too tight to give my vegetable peelings to the council Wink

I'm an active member of our town's LETS (Local Exchange Trading System) and an avid promoter of sustainable living in our local community as well as author of The Rubbish Diet blog...Mrs Green's partner in crime in promoting Zero Waste living.

My mission is to get everyone talking about rubbish no matter how big or small their pile and I spend my time promoting waste reduction in every dark corner. But it's not my only hobby, I love making things too and trying out all sorts of new ideas for living more simply.

This forum look fun, and it's really lovely to be here.

Thank you. I'm feeling very much at home and I just adore the little teapot. I think mine's going to be a nice cup of English Breakfast Smile

hello - I'm just a little bit less new than you! It'll be lovely to have someone to talk rubbish with - one of my favourite subjects! (I nearly took a photo of the pile of recycling bags waiting to be collected this morning, but that would be REALLY sad. One bag of rubbish, eight bags of recycling.)

Hello everyone and thanks for such a lovely welcome. LOL, Dandelion, it's a good thing to take photos of rubbish I promise. Take a look at the lovely one I took today, to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of my blog. LOL, http://www.therubbishdiet.blogspot.com/ Hahaha, you see even Compostwoman is doing it. It is sooooo lovely to have more people to talk rubbish with over lots and lots of tea. Mrs Nesbitt, looks like you're going to have to get a bigger teapot Smile
