pleased to be here. I have been putting so much into a new eco project, but have had some negative issues which had begun to make me think , was it worth it. Then I had a message from this forum and I now have more hope.
I was about to post something about myself, and some here already know me, a bit. I have beeninvolved with the environmental movement since I was at school back in early 70s. I got involved in practical conservation work, and am still very proud of that time, but then family took over for 20 years, and now they are mostly grown up(age wise) I can get back to the serious task of helping to save 'mankind'. (I suspect the planet would happily continue without us, but also needs some protection) .
One of the most difficult things these days is actually getting involved, stepping over that dooway, but as soon as you have done so, you wonder why you didn't do it before.
I have been working on an eco shop/drop in centre project for past 2 years. The Co-op part is up and running, just needing members and their cash to progress to next step. We are still looking for a suitable building, looked at one today which would do. Needs lots of work, and the price needs reducing.
I would also like to give a plug for Co-op movement, if I am allowed. It is superb and open minded, and as a business model makes sence. It definitely fits in with modern eco thinking, getting everyone onboard and taking responsibility. The other co-ops we have visited have been very helpful, and I just wish people would think more about co-operation than competition - that is the positive way forward. Everyone is a winner(which is a bit of a tautology in the circumstances)
