Great British Waste Menu

default Great British Waste Menu

Post by Dandelion on 23rd August 2010, 3:21 pm

This might be worth watching - Wednesday BBC1 at 8.30pm. Chefs prepare a feast for 60 people from food which has been rejected to highlight the amount of waste which goes on. (I get the impression that this is not out-of-date food, but things which are misshapen, blemished or the 'wrong size'). The stats are horrendous: it's estimated that every day in GB we throw away 4 million apples, 5 million potatoes, 2 million tomatoes and 7 million slices of bread.

I wonder how many of these chefs throw away perfectly good food every day in their own kitchens just because it may be slightly over/undercooked or doesn't look "perfect"??

I expect I'll still watch tho'

Thank-you DL for this post, the Whats On threads will be returning shortly, think it worked well but then got overtaken by the busy time of year, I have been too busy to write it, & looking at the viewing figures people have been too busy to read...

Unfortunately when it does return think I will still only be able to make it UK tv, & not able to reflect the international listings...
