Thin, sharp, fruity juice = what? Cup to cup sugar to juice?
Boil or no? Have read both
As this is the juice got out of second boiling of used pulp it doesnt really mater if I mess up my first attempt at syrup but would like a nice refreshing fizzy drink when I come in from trying to give myself heat stroke working outside

Re: DIY Syrup?
Well, went with 7 cups of sugar to 5 cups of juice, slowly brought it to the boil and boiled for 1 min.
Its now in two jars waiting to see if they seal.
Have about 3 cups left over so am having a taste, mixed in with icewater......................
Its GOOD

Re: DIY Syrup?
Glad it worked out GB.
The boil or not to boil question is because to boil kills the enzymes which is good but with so much sugar it can easily set!
Boiling the sugar syrup for 1min will kill bugs in the sugar then add to the juice you have extracted using the evapoartor is another simple way.
If you freeze the syrup in ice cube trays to use straight from the freezer you could use cold pressed juice and sugar syrup added.
Usually flavours need to be quite strong if you are adding to ice cold water as the taste is supressed.

The flavor is very strong and is super in ice water
Just made another batch - just for the fridge this time as it should keep a few weeks - and forgot the sugar to juice ratio but cup to cup seems to have made a lovely syrup too.
Just having a tall cold glass after working outside in the heat.
Soooooo glad I D.I.M. (do it myself
